The department is progressing towards world class excellence through committed teaching and research faculty. The department is recognized as research centre by Anna University, Chennai from 2014-15 onwards.The department has received 1.21 crore towards R&D activities from various funding agencies. The department has completed two R&D projects worth Rs. 23.73 lakhs from DRDO and AICTE. It has also been sanctioned with R&D grant of Rs. 71.4 lakhs towards IEDC, EAC, EDP and TEDP activities. DST- SERB has sanctioned Rs 20.12 lakhs towards R&D Project. AICTE has sanctioned Rs.5 Lakhs for organizing International Conference on Power and Energy Systems.

EVENT RULES
1.  Maximum of two authors. Person from different institution can be a part of the same team.
2.  Submission of abstract (in a word document) for not more than 300 words before the due date.
3.  Please mail your abstract to gennext_eee@vcet.ac.in on or before 25.08.2019 along with the title, name and email of both the authors.
4.  Accepted papers will be intimated through mail.
5.  The presentation should last a maximum of 7 minutes. There will be 3 minutes query and answer session following it.
6.  The selected participants should bring hard copy of the paper on the day of the event. (MS Office 2007 or 2010 )
7.  Please bring your presentation on a pen drive.
8.  The decision of the judges will be final and no arguments or appeal will be entertained.

REGISTER
TECHNICAL QUIZ

OVERVIEW
Gauge how much you know about technology as a subject
EVENT RULES
1.  Each Team can have a maximum of 2 participants.
2.  The participants will be tested on their electrical knowledge
3.  Decisions of Judges and event coordinators shall be treated as final.
4.  There are three rounds in this event.
ROUNDS
Round 1:

Participants will be given10 MCQ's, related to logical reasoning, electrical topics and current affairs. Time duration for this round would be 10 minutes. Based on their scores participants will be shortlisted for the next round.

Round 2:

In this round, Each team will have to answer 5 questions and 10 points will be awarded for every correct answer. If the team fails to answer then the team that gives the correct answer, for that question, will be given 5 points.

Round 3:

Participants selected from round 2 will take part in the buzzer round. 10 points will be awarded for every correct answer and -5 points for every wrong answer. **The winners will be based on their score in the Round 3 **

OVERVIEW

EVENT RULES
1.  Only Individuals are requested to participate.
2.  You would be judged by your body language , decision making skills and other soft skills.
3.  Decision of Judges & event coordinators shall be treated as final.
4.  In case of tie, overall score in every round would be taken in account.
5.  The participants are shortlisted based on their Aptitude Test performance in the beginning.
ROUNDS
Round 1 - Situation Handling:

The Participants are expected to give a solution for the given situation in a written format in this round. The Time Duration is 7 mins.

Round 2 - Group Discussion:

The participants who are qualified in the Round1 will be joining in the GD session. A common topic will be given in this round and they are expected to show their personality traits. The Time Duration is 10 mins.

Round 3 - Market a product:

This round will enhance the marketing skills of the participants. Every participant would be given an object based on a Lucky Draw and they have to convince the judges to buy that product. The Time Duration is 3mins. **The Winners would be announced based on their score in the rounds 2 & 3**

CIRCUIT DEBUGGING

OVERVIEW
Diagnose the root cause of an observed problem.
EVENT RULES
1.  Each team can have a maximum of 2 participants.
2.  Basic knowledge of digital and analog circuitry is necessary.
3.  Decision of judges and event co-ordinators shall be treated as final.
4.  In case of tie in the final round, timing will be taken into account.
5.  The event has three rounds which test your circuit debugging skills.
ROUNDS
Round 1:

In this round, 15 simple electronics related questions will be given. Time provided for this round is 20 minutes.

Round 2:

Participants who are selected for second round will be tested on their knowledge of digital circuitry. In this round digital electronics questions will be given and the participants are supposed to identify the bugs and rectify the circuit.

Round 3:

Participants selected for the final round will be given a hardware circuit either analog or digital. Bugs should be identified to get the correct output. Time for this round is 1 hour.
